After parting company with team manager Gary Wheatcroft, assistant manager Jamie Angell was in charge for Midhurst's Sussex Senior Cup tie away to Eastbourne Utd AFC - and it proved as tough as they expected as they lost 6-1.

Midhurst nearly made a surprise start when Lewis Hamilton latched on to a pass from Gary Norgate and his shot just skimmed the bar.

Eastbourne opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Peter Featherstone fired in from close range. Three minutes later Shaun Lee took advantage of hesitation in the Midhurst defence to score the second.

Liam Batup extended the lead and Peter Cooper netted just before the half-hour - and Midhurst were relieved when another one hit the net only to be disallowed.

After Lee added the fifth on 50 minutes, Midhurst scored a consolation when Michael Asare produced a neat finish with 15 minutes left.

James Glue was replaced by James Knight, James Wills came on for Norgate and Luke Sheldrick replaced Liam Dreckman.

Drew Grenall made Midhurst’s misery complete with a sixth.
