Midhurst share the spoils at Rustington

There was another good performance by Midhurst at Rustington - but they had to settle for just a point in the Sussex League division-two clash.

The pitch was playable and both sides were able to play their normal game. Midhurst started well and Rustington appeared rattled by their attacking style.

Midhurst tried several speculative shots at goal but fell behind when Chris Kirkham scored for the hosts. This was a setback for Midhurst, who became disjointed.

New signing Matt Evans had to take over in goal for Midhurst after the break following a knee injury to Ian Knight.

Midhurst improved for the second half and just seven minutes after the restart, Luke Sheldrick guided home an equaliser.

The visitors looked on top and only good defending a bit of fortune for Rustington prevented them going ahead.

MIDHURST: Knight (Evans), Dummer, White, Hyde, Newton, Dreckman, Hamilton, Dormer, Wimble, Norgate, Sheldrick.

This Saturday, the first XI host Loxwood at Rotherfield (3pm) while the reserves visit Rustington.
