Moore and Holvey sign for Broadbridge Heath

Attacking midfielder Ollie Moore has returned to the club having left halfway through last season to play for local rivals Loxwood.

Full-back Joe Holvey has also made the switch from Loxwood, having previous played for them as a youth player.

Painter is also talking to three or four other players with a view to bringing them to Heath.

Only one player is going in the other direction – holding midfielder Andy Waddingham, who is leaving after 20 years at the club to teach in Vietnam.

Painter said: “I’m really pleased with pre-season, we’ve been back for a month and have made some really good signings.

“Ollie (Moore) is a 20-goal a season player and I am really pleased he has come back. In my opinion he is similar to Joe Shelley.

“He is good in the air and given time I think he will prove to be as good as Joe.

“Joe (Holvey) played for us as a junior and I have been trying for three seasons to bring him back. It’s been worth it.

“Andy (Waddingham) has been here since the age of six and his departure is a big blow for us. He is a good footballer and a good lad.

“Piers McDermott has been here for four seasons and I’ve got high hopes for him and hope he can fill his boots.”

Midfielder Shaun Findlay, who was on loan at the club from Dorking last season, has joined permanently.

Painter praised: “Shaun’s a real asset to us, a real talent which I am going to try to harness.”

The Bears boss is very much looking forward to the new season, which is expected to be their last before their new ground opens.

Painter said: This is my seventh season at the club and I’m the most excited I’ve ever been!”

Heath have appointed Graham Shergold as their new reserve team manager after Mick Robinson stepped down to become operations manager on their executive committee.

Chris Simmons is coming in as his assistant, along with existing coach Paul Chapman.

The Bears played their opening pre-season game on Saturday when they lost 3-1 away to Combined Counties Premier side Ash United.
