Mullets throw away two-goal lead at Crowborough

Mullets are still nervously looking over their shoulders in 15th position but they had looked in a comfortable position through early goals from Matt Windsor and the returning Rory Biggs inside 20 minutes.

After Jack Williamson and Josh Biggs also went close before half-time, Crows came out strongly after the break and halved the deficit through George Holah’s deflected strike on 65 minutes.

Mullets felt Crowborough captain Dave Adams was fortunate not to have been sent off, following an incident with a Arundel defender, before he equalised for his side with nine minutes to go.

From then on, Crows looked the more likely to win but Mullets held firm to take a point.

Stuart said: “It feels like a loss.

“A point’s a point but it’s disappointing to squander a lead again. We need to learn how to see out games.

“We were the better side but they battered us for the last 25 minutes and probably deserved something from it.

“We felt their captain should have been sent off and he then scored the equaliser, which is frustrating, but it’s just one of those things.

“It was a decent performance but two points dropped.

“Having Rory and Josh Biggs back is a huge boost to our run-in.

“We’re looking to reach 40 points and have a massive game at home to Worthing United on Saturday.
