N'Diaye still on Pompey radar

Guy Whittingham is weighing up a summer swoop for Alassane N'Diaye as he focuses on Pompey's future.

The former Crystal Palace midfielder has been training with the Blues since arriving initially on trial in January.

Earlier this month the 23-year-old was released by Hayes & Yeading, making him a free agent.

Whittingham, though, does not intend to make N’Diaye part of his squad this season.

Instead he will continue to monitor his progress while training with the Blues for the remainder of the campaign.

And the caretaker boss admits he is a player he could snap up during the close season.

He said: ‘Alassane is still training will us and will keep training with us until the end of the season.

‘He is a nice character, no trouble whatsoever and we are just trying to help him get back into football.

‘He was playing for Hayes & Yeading and then they released him.

‘It’s a bit like Yassin (Moutaouakil) really, he has found himself out of the way.

‘Yassin has got better and better so we are hoping if we can keep N’Diaye training with us who knows.

‘If he should have a good pre-season with us he might be a player we sign on.

‘He’s not training every day. He wants to keep his fitness up so comes and trains with us when we have a reasonably hard day.

‘Then when we have lighter days as we lead up to the games he does training by himself.

‘He possibly may have a future here.

‘We just don’t want to kill any options, I think we would be stupid to do that.’

N’Diaye made 20 appearances and scored seven goals for the Blues Square Bet South side this season.

He has also seen service at Palace, Swindon, Southend and Barnet.
