New signings Jerson Dos Santos and Ashley Carew will help Haywards Heath Town become hugely competitive next season in the Isthmian South East, according to chairman Steve Isherwood.

Portuguese-born forward Dos Santos joins the Blues from Isthmian Premier Division club Corinthian-Casuals.

Last season saw the striker in prolific form, netting five goals in eight games for the Casuals before the season was curtailed.

Dos Santos also struck ten goals in 35 appearances for Folkestone Invicta in the null and void 2019-20 campaign.

The forward has also spent time at Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic, AFC Wimbledon and BÍ/Bolungarvík in Iceland.

Carew has arrived at Hanbury Park from Beckenham Town, where he was the club’s skipper.

The midfielder made over 200 appearances for Dulwich Hamlet, and helped steer the London outfit to promotion to the National League South in 2017-18

Heath chairman Isherwood said: “Ashley and Jerson are massive to us. Both are top class players and have mostly plied their trade at higher levels than what we are currently in.

“Allied to the excellent team that we finished last season with, we believe that, with maybe just one or two more new faces, we will be hugely competitive in this division.

“We have worked on the Carew signing for several weeks and Jerson for several months and are very excited about what they will both bring to the club.

“Ash is a proven midfielder who will dominate the middle of the pitch and has bags of experience to help our progression,

“Jerson has consistently scored goals at this level and higher.

“As well as the undoubted quality they bring, both are really nice guys, work hard and ultimately are winners.”

The Blues have also confirmed that five players have committed to the club for the upcoming campaign.

Heath captain Byron Napper, defender Hamish Morrison, and midfielders Jordan Clark, Sam Remfry and Nico Cotton have all agreed to stay at Hanbury Park for the 2021-22 season.
