No decision yet on EP’s fate – Ryman League

EAST Preston Football Club’s promotion hopes still hang in the balance after the Ryman League confirmed that no decision has been made on next season’s make-up – despite conflicting reports last week.

Stories emerged last Thursday that, after a league meeting, East Grinstead, who finished second, behind champions East Preston in the County League, had been recommended by the Ryman League for promotion into the South Division at EP’s expense.

But a spokesman for the Ryman League refuted this and said the story had been published prematurely. No decision will be made until the league committee meet with The FA’s leagues and clubs manager Mike Appleby, and then the league’s make-up will be decided.

That meeting is set to take place within the next two weeks, where many issues will be addressed.

Ryman League spokesperson David Watters said: “Nothing is decided until the FA summer meeting, where the structure is all sorted out and, until then, anything is pure speculation.

People have a good idea on where their club may fit into, but nothing is decided until that FA meeting with the league.

“It would not be fair to our current members or possible future members to comment until a decision has been made at that league committee meeting.”

EP have appealed their failed ground-grading decision to The FA as The Lashmar was not up to a D Grade by the end of March cut-off point.
