No wonder Cassie is Whelan away in delight...

Chichester City Ladies reserves went into this game top of the league but hadn't played for a couple of weeks so started slowly - but ended up 6-3 winners.

Haywards Heath saw a lot of the ball in midfield early on and Chichester were having to counter-attack.

A free-kick on the edge of the box by Kerri Grant hit the post and Cassie Whelan netted the rebound.

From the restart Chichester were caught out by a long ball and it was 1-1.

A corner was defended poorly and Haywards Heath edged 2-1 in front.

Chichester were struggling to hold the ball in midfield and were behind at half-time.

A change in formation, tactics and personnel for Chichester paid off immediately as within the first ten minutes of the second half, woman of the match Lauren Ellis delivered a great ball into the box to find Lucy Stanbridge at the far post to make it 2-2.

A similar goal followed for Stanbridge’s second and Chichester led 3-2.

Amy Bailey was having a fantastic game on the right and Ellis continued to drive forward and deliver. She set up Grant to bag a couple of goals herself and make it 5-2. Grant teed up Ellis for the goal her performance deserved. Haywards Heath nicked a consolation late on to leave Chichester top of the table with five wins from five.

Next game is at home at Oaklands Park this Sunday (2pm).
