Rebels signed striker Tony Nwachukwu on a one-year contract and defender Steve Metcalf has also returned to the club.

Nwachukwu, 23, joins from Horsham, who he scored 24 goals for last season when they were relegated from Ryman League South Division, while Metcalf returns to the club after spending two seasons with Peacehaven.

“Tony will add the fireworks, he’s an exciting player and the fans will love him. To score the amount of goals he did last season for a team who were relegated shows his quality.

“I’ve been having non-stop phone calls with him. He’s been honest with us and we’ve been honest with him and I’m delighted that he’s signed a one-year deal.

“He said he was really looking forward to playing for Worthing and is excited about next season.

“Steve is a vastly experienced defender and will be another senior member of the squad to help the young players and bring them through.

“They’re two huge signings and I’m very much looking forward to the start of the season.

“Straight away, when Steve and Tony walk into the dressing room, they’ll give that extra percentage of confidence to all the other players.”

Rebels had already signed six players on contract for next season - Omar Bugiel, Harvey Sparks, Will Hendon, Jack Fagan, Lloyd Dawes and Ben Pope.
