Oakwood pay tribute to footballer who passed away

They held a two-minute silence for him on Saturday before their match against Seaford Town which they won 8-1.

Manager Mark Gilbert said: “Gary was with me at Horley and then at Oakwood and I had known him for four or five years.

“Everyone at the club is very sad. It is a tragic loss.

“He was a nice lad and did pre-season with us this season, working very hard and played in our friendly against Crawley Town.

“He turned an ankle after the first couple of league games and had been injured.

“We said we wanted to get a win for Gary and we got a good result. It was obviously very sad but we did Gary proud.”
