Dominic Taylor, Dan Huet, Connor Bull and Jared Rance all netted in the opening 35 minutes to help EP to a comprehensive 4-2 home victory over Langney Wanderers.

Going into the contest, East Preston had recorded two draws and suffered a maiden league defeat, but Paine was delighted to see a return to winning ways.

He said: “I felt it was an excellent all-round performance, from our attacking play in the first half to our defending in the second.

“What really pleased me was the way we kept trying to play our football, under a lot of physical pressure and I can see the boys learning from previous games this season. Great credit to them for keeping their composure under difficult circumstances.”

A great first half performance saw East Preston race into a 4-1 lead. Chris Cook’s pass found Taylor, who embarked on a lung-busting run before firing into the bottom corner after six minutes.

Langney were back in it just four minutes later, though, after Cook failed to collect a cross Wayne Wilkinson was on hand to tap home.

Huet fired EP back ahead 12 minutes later, Jacob Parazo’s precise through-ball sent the forward clear, he then rounded Graham Leach and slotted into an empty net.

Bull came so close to putting his side further ahead on 25 minutes but he saw two shots in quick succession cleared on the goalline.

EP opened up a two-goal cushion, with Bull finally finding the net. Rance’s pass found the midfield man and he fired a crisp effort past Leach.

A crazy opening 35 minutes were then complete as Rance kept his composure to round Leach and fire EP 4-1 ahead.
