Parris not getting carried away

Darrol Parris has refused to be drawn on whether his Bexhill United side are promotion contenders.

Bexhill have picked up seven points from a possible nine in Sussex County Football League Division Two and drew away to a much-fancied Eastbourne United AFC side on Monday.

Parris, Bexhill’s manager, said: “We’ll just go about our business. It’s only three games and people aren’t talking about Swansea for the Champions League yet.

“We’ll go out to win every game and if we’re up there at Christmas time we’ll have to take it, but the first thing was to beat the seventh position of last year and the points total hopefully.”

Bexhill are stretched for the long journey to Loxwood tomorrow, however, because Andy Garman and Nathan Tudor are banned, Paul Rogers is unavailable, and Ross Markham (hip), Ashley Kidman (back) and Dan Hill (ankle) are injured.

“Loxwood are going to be hard to beat,” added Parris, of a team which has drawn four of its five league fixtures to date.

Bexhill’s reserve team, meanwhile, requires a linesman for its away matches. Anybody interested should contact club chairman Robin Powell on 07785 703636.
