Picture special - Willingdon Athletic youth section cover 1000km

The Willingdon Athletic FC youth section don’t do things by halves. When they decided to raise money for a new minibus, they set themselves a collective target of covering 1000km. And they ended up beating the target by 319km.

With more than 100 people taking part, all adhering to strict social distancing rules, this was a massive achievement. Activities included their two oldest teams and several U12s and U13s running laps of Huggetts Lane recreation ground; the U7s walking from Alfriston to Huggetts Lane with their families, some people skating 8k, and even the club’s four-year-olds taking part and covering 2.5k each. Read the full story in the Eastbourne Herald today - but check out pictures from the challenge on this page and the ones linked. Well done to all who took part!
