Pirate Day at The Polegrove

It’s Pirate Day at The Polegrove tomorrow (Saturday).

Young and old alike are encouraged to come along in pirate costumes as Bexhill United takes part in Non League Day by celebrating its new nickname.

The club is also looking for young pirates to act as mascots and lead out the team. Anyone in fancy dress costume will gain free entry to the first team match against Saltdean United.

The fun will get under way from midday with attractions such as a penalty shoot-out, bouncy castle and coconut shy.

On the field, Bexhill will start as hot favourites against a Saltdean side which is languishing at the foot of Sussex County Football League Division Two having lost its last 11 games in all competitions (starting with a 4-2 defeat in the reverse fixture against Bexhill on August 14) and conceded a massive 32 goals in its last four.

But manager Darrol Parris said: “We’ve got to go out there as if it was Littlehampton.”

Bexhill are sixth in the table with four wins and four draws from their eight matches so far, although their last three games have all ended in draws.

Ali Adams is available and Sam Thompson is nearing fitness, but Will Dunstall is away and Dan Hill is still injured.
