Pompey face defensive dilemma for Donny D-Day

Pompey fear Ricardo Rocha will miss out on their potential relegation decider at Doncaster.

Tal Ben Haim has already been ruled out of Saturday’s crucial trip to the Keepmoat Stadium because of a grade-one tear to his calf.

Now Michael Appleton fears another experienced defender in Rocha will join Ben Haim on the sidelines.

The 33-year-old limped out of the action in the 45th minute of last night’s 1-0 defeat to Millwall.

Pompey expect to ascertain the extent of Rocha’s calf injury over the next 24 hours.

But it appears to be the same calf which kept him out of action for three games over the new year period.

And Appleton is concerned Rocha could miss the Doncaster match which may seal Pompey’s relegation to League One.

He said: ‘Ricardo’s a little bit sore. We will probably know more about it over the next 24 hours. It’s his calf and, unfortunately, I think it is the same problem he had before so he possibly could be out this weekend.

‘Ben Haim definitely won’t be right for Saturday. He had a scan on Monday and it turns out he’s got a grade-one tear.’

Dave Kitson, who missed out last night’s fixture with a knock, is expected to be fit for Doncaster, while, Aaron Mokoena returned to training on Monday after missing the past five weeks with an ankle problem.
