Connor McNamara has become the subject of Anderton’s fury for suggesting he could not take part in a ‘crossbar challenge’ at half-time during Spurs’ clash with Aston Villa on Monday because of injury.

The former Spurs man insisted he was asked to hand out prizes, but McNamara responded by stating he reported what was said by the stadium announcer.

The Match of the Day and Radio 5 Live commentator has since uploaded audio of the announcement.

But that has not appeased Anderton, who is still looking for an apology for the tweet.
