Pompey old boys on move as transfers continue

THE FRANTIC summer recruitment of League Two sides is continuing.

Pompey have now signed eight players, after Curtis Main completed his move to Fratton Park yesterday.

But Paul Cook is being left in the shade by some of the huge overhauls taking place at rival clubs.

Newly-promoted Grimsby lead the way, with the Mariners recruiting a massive 12 new faces to date.

Ben Davies sealed a move to Blundell Park last week, after failing to agree new terms with Pompey.

He was joined by Luke Summerfield moving from York and Dominic Vose making the switch from Scunthorpe.

On top of that, James Berrett has also moved to the club from Bootham Crescent, with Tom Bolarinwa joining from non-league Sutton United. Boss Paul Hurst feels he has now assembled the best squad of his five years in charge at the club.

Some familiar faces to Blues fans have also been on the move to League Two.

Wycombe have landed Paris Cowan-Hall (Millwall) on loan until January, with the forward starting his third loan spell at Adams Park.

And two former Blues left-backs were on the move last week.

Dan Butler returns to the Football League after making the switch to Newport County from Torquay.

And Carl Dickinson will be plying his trade in the fourth tier next season after inking a deal with Notts County.

Derek Adams’ overhaul at Plymouth continues after signing midfielder Oscar Threlkeld on a free transfer from Bolton.

Adams has also brought in striker David Goodwillie from Aberdeen.

The Scottish international’s arrival has caused excitement at Home Park, with striker Jimmy Spencer and Latvian defender Nauris Bulvitis other recent arrivals.

That takes Plymouth to nine new faces for the summer.

Colchester have massively accelerated their business over the past week.

The U’s have announced five signings of late, with Brennan Dickenson (Gillingham), Denny Johnstone (Birmingham), Courtney Senior (Brentford), Doug Loft (Gillingham) and Dexter Peter (unattached) the newest faces.

Yeovil have taken striker Tom Eaves and defender Liam Shephard to Huish Park from Bolton and Swansea respectively. Oldham striker Jonathan Forte and Port Vale midfielder Michael O’Connor are Notts County’s sixth and seventh summer signings.

Striker Alex Nicholls and midfielder Ryan Watson have moved to Barnet, with striker Jordan Roberts Crawley’s 11th summer signing.
