Central defender Jordan Knight and former Blackburn midfielder Herold Goulon have been invited to link up with the Blues squad at St John’s College playing fields.

The duo will also feature as part of the 16-man triallist group taking on an Aldershot XI on Wednesday in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

However, of that squad, they are the only ones asked to also train with Pompey.

Knight, 18, was born in England but has spent almost all of his life living in Spain.

A host of Spanish clubs are chasing him but Whittingham has managed to bring the CD Alcoyano youth player across to Fratton Park.

Knight will spend a week with the Blues.

As for Goulon, the 25-year-old has three France under-21 caps to his name and is currently without a club.

He made four Premier League appearances for Blackburn and also spent five matches on loan at Doncaster in the 2011-12 campaign.

A defensive midfielder, Middlesbrough recruited him in 2006 from Lyon, but he never made an appearance and was released two years later.

Goulon is expected to spend a few days on trial.

Michael Bryan and Ryan Bird are currently attempting to win deals with Pompey.

Meanwhile, winger Danny Wishart from Hayes & Yeading is the latest name to be added to Wednesday’s triallist game at Aldershot.
