Powell: Parris to carry on

Bexhill United chairman Robin Powell has strongly denied rumours that ex-Rye United manager Scott Price has been offered the manager’s position at the football club and is maintaining that Darrol Parris is still in control of all first team affairs.

Bexhill posted a similar message on social network site Twitter before their 5-1 home defeat to Broadbridge Heath. Whispers circulated that Price and his former Rye assistant Andy Laskey would be taking over at The Polegrove, but Powell insists that is not the case.

“Darrol Parris is the manager of Bexhill United,” Powell said this morning (Monday). “The committee still engage Darrol as manager, and that will remain the case. Contrary to popular belief - thanks to Twitter - there is no meeting scheduled for this week.

“The train has come off the tracks slightly since the new year, everyone can see that. Results certainly need to improve, but I blame injuries for ripping the heart out of the side somewhat.

“The seconds and thirds are performing well, battling with heart and soul. The front side need to show these qualities too, and surely this will see an upturn in fortunes and a return of confidence.”

The Pirates are in action tomorrow night at home to local rivals Westfield in Sussex County League Division Two before facing league leaders Newhaven at the weekend.
