Premier League legend Alan Shearer hailed Florin Andone's performance after Brighton & Hove Albion beat Huddersfield 1-0 yesterday.

Romanian international Andone, back from a three-game suspension, came off the bench after 57 minutes and headed the only goal 11 minutes from time.

Shearer, the Premier League's all-time record goalscorer, said it was Andone's performance which earned the Seagulls a crucial three points.

It was Albion's first league victory of 2019 and moved them five points clear of the relegation zone.

Speaking on Match Of The Day, Shearer said: "They were going nowhere in their game until Chris (Hughton) changed it with about half-an-hour to go.

"Murray went off and Andone came on and he changed the game.

"He became a focal point. He had a touch, turn and drew a decent save, should have had a penalty and everything was fired into him.

"Huddersfield switched off, the ball in from (Anthony) Knockaert was a wonderful cross and Andone changed the game and won the game for them. He got them the three points.

"That was a must-win game for Brighton, their first Premier League win this year so it's a big three points for them and they deserved it in the end."
