Albion have collected just two points from seven games in 2019 and are now only two points above the relegation zone.

The Seagulls entertain Huddersfield this afternoon but Hughton insists he doesn't feel any more pressure now than at any other stage during the season.

He said: "There is always pressure. If anyone asks me ‘are you feeling the pressure?’ well the pressure is the first game of the season and when you’ve got to go up to Liverpool and Manchester City, those type of places.

"Pressure is consistent right through the season and at this moment I don’t feel any more pressure than I have felt at any time this season.

"But I also think it’s a realism. It’s a club here and a support here that realises and accepts this is our second season and it’s not as though we went through last season very comfortably and finished mid-table.

"We finished in the position probably that some felt we would, which is staying up and hoping to improve this season.

"I think there is a realisation here that there are going to be tough periods during the season. So yes, I do think the stability we have at the club here helps.

"And what also helps is I have a changing room that at the moment are concerned - there’s no doubt about it - and also disappointed we have not got the results. But certainly it’s not a changing room that is full of doom and gloom."
