Pressure off Wick for Vase clash

WICK Football Club manager Gary Block says the pressure is off his side ahead of their FA Vase first round tie at home to VCD Athletic on Saturday.

He said: “It’s always nice to play in FA Vase and FA Cup games and, being a cup game, it will take the pressure of of us and we can go out and relax.

“Our main priority for the season is to remain in County League Division 1 but this is a nice distraction.

“They’re a pretty decent side and we’ll have to be at our best, but you never know what can happen.”

VCD sit top of the Kent League Premier Division after four wins and two draws from their opening six league games.

Block has signed young striker Adam Plummer and hopes to have Julian Bonniface (from Chichester) and Scott Dormer (Midhurst) signed in time for the game.

The winners of the tie will receive £1,000 prize money.
