The Fratton goal hero pinpointed the men in charge of the side he scored 64 goals for as the right people to take the Blues forward.

Quinn was honoured along with Jimmy Scoular, Ron Saunders, Eoin Hand, Kit Symons and John Weddle on another special induction evening on Saturday night.

As ever, it proved an emotional night as Pompey folk gathered to laud their heroes.

Alan Knight received a civic award, while Hand performed a moving song telling events of recent times at Fratton Park in highlights.

Quinn believes the current management team is the right one to have at the helm, as the Pompey Supporters’ Trust bid to complete their takeover.

He said: ‘It’s fantastic to receive the award and a real honour.

‘Not a lot has changed since I played here, to be honest!

‘Playing for Pompey was a big move for me. I played 18 years of professional football but that team I played for is special to me.

‘We’d fight for each other and we’d drink with each other.

‘But we knew the football club and lived it.

‘There are some fantastic people in charge now, people who care about Portsmouth Football Club.

‘As long as we get it right and have people who care as the backbone of club with the fans, this club will bounce back – and do it properly this time.’
