Rain disrupts local football again

Heavy rain has decimated Horsham district sports fixtures again, with Horsham’s Ryman Division 1 South match against Hythe postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, along with Sussex County Football League matches.

Horsham YMCA’s trip to Arundel in Division 1, Steyning Town’s derby against Broadbridge Heath in Division 2, Roffey’s home game against Ferring and Billinghurst’s visit to Sidlesham in Division 3 are definite casualies of the weather. Storrington’s trip to Wick is subject to an 11am inspection.

The Sussex County League announced last week it had successfully sought an extension from the FA to finish the season in May, after losing hundreds of matches to bad weather.

Meanwhile, Pulborough RUFC’s home match against Uckfield in London South East 3 has beaten the weather, but the Point to Point races due to take place tomorrow, have been cancelled.

Also off tomorrow is Horsham RUFC’s Minis Festival, which was due to attract around 700 players. A new date has yet to be decided.
