Littlehampton’s 1-0 defeat at St Francis Rangers meant they could no longer catch EP, who were on a team day out in Hove and their loud celebrations saw them thrown out of a pub.

EP manager Dominic Di Paola said: “We were meant to be playing Rye and had already booked a minibus to have a night out afterwards. When the game was cancelled, we decided to all meet up early and there were about 20 of us out, so it was nice to all be together when we won the title.

“We were following the Littlehampton game on Twitter and everyone went a bit mental when it was confirmed we’d won the league and we were thrown out of a pub as a few beers were spilled in the celebrations.

“To have everyone together like that, it was a brilliant day and I’m just over the moon.

“We came out of the traps flying at the start of the season and we haven’t really looked back. It’s been an absolutely brilliant season.

“We added four or five to the squad from last season as Peacehaven won the title last season with a squad of about 18, when we only had 15.

“That’s made a massive difference and bringing in players like Kev Keehan, Darren Boswell and Adam Hunt has made a huge difference, both on and off the pitch.”

Read the thoughts of players Joe Shelley, Marc Pullan, Mike Huckett, Kevin Keehan and Matt Axell in this week’s paper, as well as Di Paola’s assessment on every member of his title-winning squad.
