Rebels legend Kennett resigns for the club

Rebels boss Chris White has this afternoon (Monday) confirmed he has brought fans’ favourite Kennett back to Woodside Road for a third spell at the club.

Kennett quit the club back in 2010 after ex-manager Simon Colbran also stepped down, and the experienced midfielder joined Premier Division side Horsham where he spent one season under John Maggs.

White has played a waiting game throughout the summer until Kennett became available due to work commitments, but insisted the midfielder was only ever going to sign for one club this season - and described him to the Herald a few weeks ago as the final part of the puzzle.

White said: “I am thrilled to bits as I know his qualities and I know what he can bring to the side, we had to be patient due to work commitments, but it’s excellent for us.”

Kennett will go straight into the Rebels’ squad for their trip to Walton & Hersham on tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

White has also signed goalkeeper Dean Ruddy after Alan Mansfield damaged his ankle ligaments on Saturday’s 2-0 win over Ramsgate.
