Result is everything for Pagham boss after FA Vase struggle

Pagham trailed twice in the first half before finally getting the better of their hosts after the break.

It sets up a second qualifying round tie at home to Chichester City on Saturday week.

Phil Williamson gave Steyning a 17th-minute lead which was cancelled out five minutes later by Joe Briggs (pictured).

Only another five minutes had passed when Dave Harris restored Steyning’s lead, but James Temple made it 2-2 before the interval.

Temple struck again ten minutes into the second with what proved to be the winner.

A relieved Price said: “It always looked a bit of a banana skin but i’m just glad we got through. It was all about getting the job done.

“At half-time I asked the lads to increase the work-rate and they did. After we went 3-2 up early we created chance after chance to kill the game off but we didn’t take them.

“We need to be more clinical.”

Price was pleased key man Temple came through his first 90-minute test of the season in the Vase victory.
