A late penalty denied Lewes back to back league wins as they drew 1-1 away at Met Police on Saturday.
Following a goalless first half of few chances for either side, defender Chris Breach kept up his good run of scoring when he netted from a Karl Beckford free kick early in the second half.
The visiting Rooks held on to their lead until, in the 85th minute skipper Steve Robbinson was adjudged to have fouled Jonte Smith after a coming together inside the area, and the on-loan Crawley striker levelled from the spot.
Still Rooks were handed the chance for a late winner when the hosts were penalised for a back pass in added time. Beckford’s first attempt was held by Met keeper Jamie Butler, but a retake was ordered and this time Beckford struck the top of the crossbar as both sides settled for a draw.
This Tuesday Lewes are due to hosts Eastbourne Utd Association in the Sussex Senior Cup, 7.45pm kick off at the Dripping Pan.
