Rye eager to maintain good run

Rye United will be out to continue their scintillating form tonight (Tuesday).

The Quarterboys will travel to Crowborough Athletic in Sussex County Football League Division One gunning for a fifth successive victory in all competitions.

Rye could go back to the top of the table if they win against mid-table Crowborough and Pagham, who took over top spot at the weekend, drop points away to Worthing United.

Scott Price, Rye’s manager, admits he faces a selection headache following the 6-0 victory at Storrington in the John O’Hara League Challenge Cup on Saturday. Paul Watson is unavailable, but Nathan Russell should return.

Elsewhere tonight, Westfield will be targeting their second Division Two victory of the season away to bottom club Eastbourne United AFC.

But from the side which upset Worthing United in the John O’Hara League Cup on Saturday, Joe Barham and Jack Stapley are working, Sam Henham is on holiday, and Peter Baker and Ross Williams are injury doubts.

On top of that, James Gatcum is suspended, Steve Ringwood is still away, Chris Sanderson is on holiday and Lee Wood remains sidelined through injury.

Both matches will kick-off at 7.45pm and the results will appear on this website tomorrow morning.
