The Macron East Sussex Football League Division One leaders will host Westfield II, who are second-bottom of the Premier Division, in a Robertsbridge Charity Intermediate Cup quarter-final today (Saturday). Kick-off at The Salts is 1.30pm.

Rye reached the last four of the Hastings & District FA Junior Cup in their last outing two weeks ago with a 4-3 victory at home to Division Three leaders Bexhill Rovers.

With Rye fixtureless last weekend, some of the players watched Division Three side Bexhill United II beat Rye’s league rivals Bexhill Town 2-0 to set up a semi-final against Rye in that competition.

Rye also now know that two points from their final three league matches will make absolutely sure of finishing in one of the two promotion positions.

That’s because third-placed Crowhurst suffered a surprise 5-4 defeat at home to bottom-of-the-table and previously winless Mountfield United last weekend.

Rye’s next league game is away to fifth-placed Wadhurst United on Saturday February 25, and their remaining two fixtures - on dates to be announced - are against second-placed Bexhill Town and second-bottom Icklesham Casuals.
