It had orginally been expected to take place on Friday but has been delayed.

The sale has made significant progress with the receipt of a deposit by the club’s solicitor from the group taking over.

However the sale is not expected to be completed until next week as they await Football League approval and the completion of the Owners and Directors’ test.

Reports suggest the person heading up the consortium buying the club is Ziya Eren, who is the president of Turkish first division side Kayseri Erciyesspor.

However Crawley Town refuse to confirm or deny this is the case.

The statment read: “A deposit for the proposed sale of Crawley Town FC to a Turkish investor has been received by the club’s solicitor and an exchange of contracts is due to take place in the next 24 hours.

“Both parties are working towards completing the sale of the club by early next week, although this is subject to Football League approval of the takeover relating to the Owners and Directors test and the completion of all legal agreements.”
