Lewes kick-off their pre-season friendlies tomorrow at home to next door neighbours Brighton & Hove Albion.
The game will be played earlier than usual to fit in with Seagulls’ preparations before they leave for a pre-season training camp in Spain.
Rooks manager Garry Wilson will not be overseeing the team as he is on holiday in Turkey with his family.
Instead Lewes assistant manager Danny Bloor will be in charge.
Lewes began pre-season training on June 26 which was led by head of coaching Dean Lightwood and first team coach Ryan Gayler.
Speaking to the Sussex Express from Belek yesterday where the temperature was a boiling 37 degrees, Wilson was delighted Brighton will be his side’s first opponents of the pre-season programme.
He said: “I had my holidays already booked when this fixture was confirmed and I’m gutted I won’t be there.
“It’s a bit earlier than usual and we never usually play a fixture on this date.
“It’s a good gesture by Brighton and it’s great that this will be Sami Hyppia’s first game in charge.
“They are bringing their first team squad and I would expect they will field 22 players with a different team in each half and each player playing 45 minutes.”
