Selsey hit seven .,. City win on road ... Pagham beaten, Stags held

Selsey produced the result of the season – or pretty much any season – when they hammered hosts Ringmer 7-1 on Tuesday night.

In the context of the Blues’ season, it was a remarkable win and will give them confidence to end a tough season on a high.

Dean Stuart Platt and Toby Lempriere put them 2-0 up at the break and James Parsons and Mark Thompson made it four.

Stuart Platt, Lempiere and Thompson all scored again. Ringmer got a late one back.

It came three days after Dorking had won 2-0 at the High Street Ground. Selsey host Littlehampton this week.

Division one

Michael Frangou’s 41st-minute goal earned Daren Pearce’s men three points on the other side of Sussex.

A fine defensive performance gave City a win which lifted them to 14th in the table.

It sets them up well for a big week ahead. They host Eastbourne Town in the league on Saturday, then face Newhaven at Shoreham in their Peter Bentley Cup semi-final next Tuesday.

Horsham YMCA 1 Pagham 0

Division one

A solitary goal left Pagham pointless at YM – and saw them slip seven points off leaders Dorking.

Nicholas Sullivan downed the Lions with a 79th-minute winner, denting their hopes of challenging for the title.

Gary Block’s team host East Preston on Saturday.

Rustington 1 Midhurst 1

Division two

Lewis Hamilton saved a point for Midhurst at Rustington.

His 40th-minute equaliser cancelled out Steve Gettings’ opener to extend the Stags’ fine run of results.
