Selsey slip up again

Selsey conceded a goal in each half as they fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Redhill in the Sussex League's division one.

Despite missing the likes of top scorer Andrew Atkin through injury, the visitors opened the scoring through Billy Medlock after 15 minutes.

The game was delayed due to a floodlight failure at the High Street Ground before Leon Dussard doubled Redhill’s lead after 79 minutes.

Adam Hinshelwood’s side have now failed to record a home victory since October 4 when local rivals Chichester City were beaten 1-0 in the RUR Charity Cup.

It leaves their league position unchanged in 14th place, although they are now eight points off the top half.

And another failure to trouble the scoreboard makes it 24 goals in 16 league games, an unwanted record matched only by four other sides, two of whom are in the relegation zone.

Cup fixtures are coming thick and fast for all sides in the division and makes for a rather misleading table.

And Selsey could well break into the top ten if they are victorious in the several games in hand they have over many of the opponents placed above them.

Three Bridges lay in wait on Saturday as Hinshelwood’s men resume league duty at Jubilee Field eager to rediscover the form they showed in their recent winning run.
