Seven sign up for next season

Hastings United have agreed terms with seven members of last season’s squad.

Matt Armstrong-Ford, Zac Attwood, Bailo Camara, Lee Carey, Jamie Crellin, Scott Manning and Matt Whitehead have all told player-manager Sean Ray they will be staying at The Pilot Field next term.

“Those seven have all committed and I’m made up with that. It’s good that we’ve kept the main group we wanted to keep,” said Ray, who is also speaking to Jack Dixon and Danny Ellis.

In terms of forwards, as well as Attwood and Camara, Ray is speaking to and hoping to keep Bradley Goldberg, and he hopes Joe Barham will do pre-season with the club as well.

Two other attackers - one with Ryman Premier experience and one who has played in Conference South - are due to attend pre-season training which starts on June 21.

As far as replacing United States-bound central defender Josh Jirbandey is concerned, Ray says he knows who he would like to get in and was speaking to that player this week.

Ray has also spoken to a couple of goalkeepers given the present lack of cover for Armstrong-Ford. See Friday’s Hastings Observer for the full article.
