Sidley boss writes off Saturday’s game

John Lambert has written off Sidley United’s chances of returning to action on Saturday.

Sidley’s manager is so convinced the match at home to Chichester City will be postponed that the club has already booked a venue to train at instead.

Speaking on Wednesday morning, Lambert said: “There’s no signs of us playing on Saturday, it just won’t be happening. We’ve already booked somewhere to train for Saturday.”

Although mid-table in Sussex County Football League Division One and with seemingly little to play for, Sidley have been doing their best to overcome the belated arrival of winter.

They did half-an-hour of circuit training and an hour of five-a-side at Bexhill Leisure Centre on Saturday following the postponement of the scheduled visit from Redhill.

Sidley did some head tennis and played a game on a Gullivers pitch several inches deep in snow on Tuesday night, and although they are planning to have tonight off, it’s likely to be back to the leisure centre on Saturday.
