Sidley game on at the moment

Sidley United’s match at home to Lingfield tonight (Tuesday) is on as things stand.

The Gullivers pitch passed a 1pm inspection, but with temperatures likely to drop in the evening, the final decision will be made by the match referee.

The whole of the pitch was considered playable this morning apart from one small goalmouth section. That has since softened up and a cover has been placed over it to protect it.

The Sussex County Football League Division One fixture has already been postponed twice so both clubs will be hoping it’s third time lucky tonight.

Sidley will be eager to bounce back from their 5-0 defeat at Hassocks on Saturday which ended a run of just one defeat in eight games in all competitions.

David Pugh, who signed for the club last week, is in line to make his debut. Chris Agutter and Dan Cruikshank return from suspension, but Ben Radley is unavailable. Kick-off is scheduled for 7.45pm.

Elsewhere tonight, Bexhill United are due to visit fellow Sussex County League Division Two side Broadbridge Heath in round three of the Sussex RUR Charity Cup.

Assuming it goes ahead, the match will be Bexhill’s fourth midweek game in West Sussex this season. Paul Rogers is again in the squad having made his first Bexhill appearance since early season at the weekend.
