Sidley suffer another home defeat - JAC Tackleway put ten past Victoria

It was a more spirited performance from Sidley United but the same result as Hollington United put themselves on the brink of the title with a narrow victory.

A physical encounter was always to be expected with a number of free kicks awarded in the early stages. From one aerial tussle Zac McEniry hit the floor and with no free kick awarded, frustration took over and he was sin-binned for dissent towards the referee.

Sidley very nearly rode out the period with the man disadvantage but just before McEniry was allowed to return, a neat move from the visitors saw the ball paid through to Bailo Camara who finished low past Phil Hawkins to give them the lead on 27 minutes.

Back to their full numbers, Sidley tried to push their opponents back but found chances hard to create, although the same could be said for the visitors. In the second period, Hawkins made a good save to stop Hollington extending their advantage.

The Blues did enjoy a better spell in the final third of the match, and forced a number of late corners as the pressure built. However the Hollington defence held firm to claim the points and put themselves on the cusp of the MSFL Mini League title.

The JC Tackleway 10 - 1 Victoria Baptists

Victoria Baptists proved to be the perfect opponents for Tackleway's first team as they scored 10 goals for the first time in a competitive match.

Tackleway had something to prove as they looked to put the 5-0 defeat to Rye Town in their previous outing behind them but the eventual scoreline was unexpected against a Victoria Baptist side who themselves had recently drawn 1-1 with the same Rye Town team.

Tackleway dominated the match and at half-time the score was already 5-0 with Toby Payne having helped himself to four goals with the other scorer being Kale Williams. The second-half brought another five goals for Tackleway with the Baptists' consolation goal coming from the penalty spot.

Payne helped himself to another two goals to bring his individual tally to six, with Williams grabbing another goal, Steve Benton claimed his first goal of the season and Sheriffo Njie completed the scoring with his first goal for the club. MOM Payne.
