Skipper hasn't left, say Hastings

Hastings United say their captain from last season hasn't left the football club.

That’s despite Burgess Hill Town reporting on their website that they have agreed terms with Ollie Rowe to join the Hillians for the 2016/17 campaign.

Burgess Hill manager Ian Chapman told www.bhtfc.co.uk: “I’m delighted that Ollie is joining, he is the type of player we want at the club. A centre-half was ‘high’ on my priority list to bring in for next season. He captained Eastbourne Borough at a young age and is looking forward to the challenge of us establishing ourselves in the Ryman Premier League.”

The 25-year-old Rowe, who has also played for Lewes, Chelmsford City and Brighton & Hove Albion, made 52 appearances for United during the 2015/16 season having returned to the club last summer.

United director Dave Nessling said: “Ollie Rowe has not left. He is meeting with the manager (Darren Hare) in the next few days, as are all other existing players.”

Hare was appointed United’s new manager on Wednesday. It was announced earlier in the week that midfielder Sam Adams will be heading to Hythe Town for next term.
