Reds ended a run of six home league games without a win by beating basement boys Leyton Orient last time out and travel to Wales to face second-bottom Newport County.

Since the start of the season Crawley have only managed successive League 2 victories on three other occasions, with Smith wanting to see more consistency from Reds in the final seven games this season.

He said: "I think the main thing we are focusing on between now and the end of the season is consistency. If you want to be challenging for a play-off place or promotion you need to be at a good level each week.

"It was a relief to get back to winning ways at home last weekend and we want to carry on our good away form at Newport on Saturday."

The Welsh side are currently six points from safety with seven games to go, so Smith is aware of how tough of an afternoon it will be for Reds.

Crawley are unbeaten in four away league matches at present and the Red Devils skipper sees no reason why they can't extend that further.

Smith added: "Newport are fighting for their lives, the pitch probably isn't going to be the best so we will be in for a battle.

"Every game from now until the end of the season is going to be tough but we're hopeful of carrying on our good away form."
