Sponsors boost Bognor as new stand takes shape

The Rocks have been handed a big sponsorship boost thanks to two Bognor businesses who have renewed their backing for Jack Pearce's men ahead of the new Isthmian premier season.

Kevin Welling Plumbing & Heating have agreed a deal to continue as sponsors on the back of the first team's shirts, while Concise Surfacing Limited (CSL) will appear on the shorts once more. MD Kevin Welling, pictured, said: "The Rocks need our support and we are happy to once again back the boys."

The development comes as Bognor, under the stewardship of Pearce and coach Robbie Blake, continue with pre-season friendly matches -- tonight they go to Horndean -- and as the club gears up for the annual sponsors' draw. This gives entrants the chance to become the Rocks’ main shirt sponsors for next season.

The annual draw also gives businesses the chance to win a range of prizes, including match day and ball sponsorship.

The virtual event will take place on August 26, at the club’s events venue Seasons. Dave Robinson, Rocks commercial manager, says he pleased with the number of entries given the circumstances post-Covid.

He said: "On the back of the amazing fundraising campaign that raised more than £50,000, we're delighted at the response of our backers with the sponsors' draw. Companies can have one entry for £180, two for £250, or three for £300. There are lots of great opportunities up for grabs and the chance of having your name on our first team shirts is a big attraction. The exposure your firm will get throughout the season is worth having.”

The sponsorship rallying cry comes as the new-look Nyewood Lane takes shape. A new 367-seat ground is nearing completion and a new PA system, floodlights are already in place. The Rocks are also looking to replace a toilet block, and the cover at the Seasons events venue end of the ground, which was destroyed during Storm Ciara in February.
