The hosts, with ex Bognor man Anthony Ender up front, caused problems in the first half against a YM team with several enforced changes. Alex Wadey came in between the stick, Connor Breivik returned at centre back while first team coach Mark Hawthorne, reserves assistant manager Steve Barrow and 34 year-old Jason Bailey made up the bench.

With extra numbers in the centre of the park an adjustment was needed as YM just made it to half time goalless. The visitors kept the ball better in the second half and forced a good opening through Oli Leslie, whose shot was tipped round the post. Hawthorne came off the bench to gave his teammates in midfield more confidence and YM stepped it up a level.

YM’s back five of keeper Wadey, Chris Spiers, Steve Dixon, Breivik and Nathan Sleat looked composed, and even when they were beaten, Wadey pulled off a superb save to deny a goal-bound effort.

Cobham are YM’s next oppisition in the Suburban League tomorrow (Wednesday March 13).
