Steyning return to FA Cup trial... Golds hit 12 to start season... Worthing teams off to flyers

Steyning lost Saturday’s SCFL premier opener at AFC Uckfield 3-0, then fell to a 1-0 home defeat to Saltdean on Tuesday.

Hide AdShoreham’s SCFL division one campaign began with a thrilling 4-4 draw at home to Billingshurst. Luke Gedling, Dean Gilmour, Neil Munday and Michael Death were on target. Shoreham visit Bexhill next Wednesday.

The Golds are out to make up for last season’s disappointment, when football was halted by the lockdown just as they looked set for promotion to the premier division.
They won 6-1 at Hailsham on Saturday then won by the same score at home to Midhurst on Tuesday. They now host Worthing Utd on Friday night.

Worthing United are among clubs enjoying a flying start to the new Southenr Combination season.
They began with a 1-0 win at Roffey on Saturday and followed it up with a victory by the same scoreline at home to Seaford in midweek.
The wins, both secured by goals from Dan Hills, put them second in the early division one table, behind free-scoring Littlehampton Town on goal difference.

In the premier division Lancing began with a 6-1 victory at home to Lingfield but lost 3-2 at Hassocks on Tuesday night.
Worthing Town had a successful start in division two, beating Rottingdean 3-0.
