Steyning see a two-goal lead slip away

A brace from Ross Adams in the opening 41 minutes had given Town a two-goal cushion at the interval.

But back came the home side and efforts from Jordan Mase and Darren Tidey in the second half ensured it ended all square at 2-2 in the Southern Combination League Division 1 encounter.

Despite seeing a lead come and go, Murphy was satisfied to return home with a point and said: “We didn’t really play as well as we have done but it was still a point gained away from home at a place we have struggled.

“We were 2-0 up at half-time but it was a little fortunate as they had missed a few good chances.

“After conceding early in the second, which never helps, we had a couple of chances but couldn’t take them.”

Town looked to be heading in at the interval all square before a late couple of strikes from Adams put them in command. The forward got his first five minutes before the break, then added a second less than a minute later to make it 2-0.

Mase gave Oakwood hope with his strike three minutes after the break, before Tidey levelled six minutes from time.
