After the disappointment of the previous Tuesday’s result at Shoreham, and going behind early in the second half, the Swans showed great character to beat Seaford 3-1 at the Rec.

There were two goals for Jordan Suter, both well-taken finishes from the striker, when put through by Josh Warner and Austin Okolo.

Paine said: “I’m very proud of the group to get a win after Tuesday’s disappointing result.

“We showed great desire and character to come back from a goal down to score three well-taken goals and secure the very welcome three points.

“Everyone played their part in a hard-working and resolute performance.

“We now must push on from this and show a bit more consistency to get us further up the table.

“We will work hard art training this week and look forward to the Billingshurst game on Saturday.”

The game opened up and Littlehampton got back into it just after the half0hour mark through a Joe Benn goal. A rebound shot fell his way and he calmly put the ball past Stallan.

In the second half Littlehampton played with more confidence as the team looked to assert their dominance and turn the game around. It didn’t take long for them to take the lead with Benn scoring again in the 51st minute. After another good spell a corner just minutes later was enough to see Benn complete his hat-trick with a header from a Mitch Hand cross.

West Chiltington returned to West Sussex League action after the lockdown with a fine 3-1 win at Upper Beeding.

The visitors got off to a fast start when Oliver Setchell opened the scoring after just nine minutes. And they continued to cause the home defence problems with Gary Weedon looking particularly dangerous up front for Chilt.

It was no surprise when they extended their lead shortly before half-time –the goal came when Weedon closed down the home keeper and in the ensuing scramble was pushed over for a penalty.

He took the spot kick himself but it was well saved by the Beeding keeper who pushed the ball round the post for a corner.

The respite was shortlived as the corner was only cleared to the edge of the area and Setchell fired home with a rather fortunate strike through a crowded penalty box to complete his double.

The hosts got back into the game on the hour when a spell of pressure forced a free kick just outside the penalty area which was fired over the wall and into the top corner, leaving the keeper helpless.

With Beeding pushing for an equaliser, Chilt caught them on the break when Zak Sanderson put the ball through for Weedon to run on to, only for the keeper to bring him down to concede a second penalty. This time Weedon stepped up and struck a firm shot into the bottom corner to complete the scoring.
