The Bears have been defeated twice by Newhaven this season, losing 3-2 in the FA Vase and 2-1 at home in the league.

Despite this, Painter is confident after the signing of three new players, while he has also been encouraged with recent performances against Burgess Hill and Lancing, despite losing both.

Painter said: “We’ve made four signings in recent weeks which I’m happy with.

“Tom Gilbert can’t play but we’ve strengthened well with the signings of Tom and Jack Lyons, as well as Shaun Findlay.

“Although we lost in our last two games, the performances were encouraging and hopefully we can build on them tonight.”

One of those positive performances came in their first competitive fixture on the 3G pitch at the Sussex FA headquarters when they narrowly lost 3-2 to league leaders Lancing ten days ago.

Heath have beaten Littlehampton, Eastbourne Town and St Francis to progress to the semi-final and Painter is hopeful of silverware.

He said: “We’ve reached this stage a fair few times over the last few years and also the final once.

“It would be great to get some silverware now that we’ve reached this stage.”

The game tonight is a 7.15pm kick-off at Culver Road, with the winners playing either Lancing or Chichester City in the final.
