Olorunda had interested clubs such as Hastings United after leaving Lewes earlier in the month, but it looks as though he has signed for Sussex County Football League Division One team Rye.

A message from Rye’s official Twitter feed this afternoon (Sunday) read: “Ade Olorunda returns to Rye United! Top drawer signing!”

Olorunda, whose brother Tim plays in the Hastings midfield, helped Hastings to promotion from Ryman Division One South in 2007 and achieved the same thing with Maidstone United last season. He’s also starred for Tonbridge Angels and had a previous spell at Rye the best part of a decade ago.

Olorunda links up with a Rye squad which is becoming increaingly impressive. Jono Richardson and Greg Nessling joined the Quarterboys earlier in the month, while Nathan Russell has committed himself on a regular basis.

Although through to the last 64 of the FA Vase, Rye are only 13th in the league following yesterday’s 1-1 draw at home to Dorking Wanderers. Liam Upton gave Rye a 24th minute lead only for Luke Longhurst to level 20 minutes into the second half.
