The 22-year-old scored 34 goals in his first full season with United in 2018-19 after joining them from Bromley midway through the previous campaign. That haul included four in a 9-2 League Cup win at East Grinstead.

Ajakaiye was a regular in their side last season when they won 18 of their 28 Isthmian South East League games. They were top of the table when the season was halted in mid-March.

When Hastings returned to friendly action this month, Ajakaiye promptly scored a hat-trick in a 7-0 win over Westfield.

Ajakaiye was at Fulham as an under-12 before joining the West Ham academy. From there, he signed for Bromley’s youth set-up before making his first team debut against Guiseley towards the end of the 2015/16 season in the top flight of non-league football. He made a further three sub appearances in the National League the following season.

He is noted for his pace and can play out wide or through the middle.

Hastings bosses are pleased with the squad they are assembling for their new promotion bid but will be sorry to see Ajakaiye go.
