Asa Nicholson struck as Mullets secured a 1-1 Southern Combination League Premier Division home draw with Horsham YMCA.

Heading into the contest, Arundel were on a run of four consecutive league losses but Stuart was pleased to see more solidity from his team.

He said: “We were so much better in this game and I was proud of the performance. This was so much better from our last game against Chichester City and we looked solid.

“Myself, Barry Pidgeon and Scott Tipper had a chat and a regroup to see what was going wrong.

“After a discussion, we reverted to a 4-2-3-1 shape and this performance showed that worked.

“We probably had the better of the chances and could well have taken all three points.”

Nicholson fired Arundel ahead after six minutes as a quick turn of pace got him past his man before he found the bottom corner.

All of the home side’s hard-work was undone following a moment of misfortune on the half-hour.

Jordan Dudas’ attempted clearance struck the back of Max Howell, then fell favourably into the YMCA player’s path to give him an easy finish.

Mullets pushed forward in the second half, with Harry Russell and Nicholson forcing Mark Fox into saves but it ended all square.
