ARUNDEL Football Club joint manager Craig Stuart described his side’s performance in their 4-1 win over Eastbourne United on Tuesday as the best they have played all season.

Mullets led 1-0 at half-time through Asa Nicholson but could have been further ahead at the break, as Josh Biggs hit the bar and had a one-on-one saved.

The visitors levelled two minutes into the second half but Arundel responded well and Rory Biggs hit a post before they went back ahead on 68 minutes.

Jordan Jones went on a great run as he beat three players, before pulling the ball back for Max Thoms to side-foot home.

Thoms got his second after Harry Russell squared the ball on 75 minutes, before Dave Herbert netted the fourth two minutes from time after he got through one-on-one.

Stuart said: “We played really well and it was our best performance of the season.

“We should have won by a lot more as we hit the bar, hit the post and missed three one-on-ones.

“Everyone was buzzing afterwards, though. They had knocked us out of the FA Vase, so it was great to get the win and we played some really nice football as well.”
